Chuck Suchy with Tom Schaefer
“If he’s not one of the great American songwriters, I don’t know who is.”A working farmer, born and raised and at home in the blue hills along the Missouri River south of Mandan, North Dakota, Chuck Suchy has a love for making music that goes back to his childhood. Throughout his youth and young adult life, he found time to perform in the area’s halls, clubs and lounges, singing and playing guitar and accordian. In 1982 a major event occurred when an acquaintance gave him a tape of Canadian troubadour Stan Rogers singing his classic Field Behind The Plow. “It was at that moment” Suchy says “that I realized that the life I was immersed in was worthy of song.” He began writing his own ballads and songs, slipping them into his performances and it was soon obvious that he was on to something quite unique -sensitive and honest portrayals of contemporary American farm life, but from an insider’s point of view.
Chuck Suchy will be on stage with renowned fiddler Tom Schaefer for an evening you will want to be part of!

This is a rare opportunity to see Richard Shindell in such an intimate setting.
Popular as a solo performer, he is also well know as part of the Cry, Cry, Cry tour.
Originally from New York, now dividing his time between Buenos Aires, Argentina and New York’s Hudson Valley, Richard Shindell is a writer whose songs paint pictures, tell stories, juxtapose ideas and images, inhabit characters, vividly evoking entire worlds along the way and expanding our sense of just what it is a song may be. From his first record, Sparrow’s Point(1992) to his current release, Careless(September 2016), Shindell has explored the possibilities offered by this most elastic and variable of cultural confections: the song.
If you know Richard Shindell’s music and performances, then you know you shouldn’t miss this. If not, check him out at richardshindell.com

“[Peter] Mayer‘s songs are crafted like Shaker furniture, with no place for superfluous embellishments or throwaway lines…(his) world is bright and hopeful and the transcendent nature of his lyrics…explore the mysteries of life…Mayer’s fluid, clean, and tremendously intriguing guitar playing is topped with warm, rich vocals. This is music for the soul.”
–Ken Sheldon, Acoustic Guitar Magazine
“There are at least a dozen Peter Mayer songs that I would love to learn myself, but I could never play them as well as he does.” –David Wilcox, Singer/Songwriter
Minnesota’s Peter Mayer has been singing and songwriting full-time for over 20 years, performing in venues across the United States and beyond. He writes songs for a small planet–songs that celebrate life on earth and the mysterious and wondrous fact of our existence–songs about the vast cosmos that surrounds us and how we are a part of it all. He also writes songs about dress hats, pumpkins and pajamas, and even love and freight trains just like a good folk musician should.

“There’s just something about Ellis. She is at once funny and wise, thoughtful and uninhibited, and her captivating voice is matched by her uplifting lyrics. If you looked up the definition of open-hearted in the dictionary, you just might find her photo there. Ellis’ performances are transformational; she leaves her audiences better than she finds them, with softened edges & opened hearts.”
“If ever there was a feel-good folk musician, this is the woman – somebody who really does send you off feeling better about the world.”
—John Davy, No Depression
